About Nisswa Lions

The Nisswa Lions Club resides in Nisswa, Minnesota in the Brainerd Lakes area. Our Club is a part of Lions International District 5M9. Nearby cities include Pequot Lakes, Jenkins, Pine River, Merrifield, Brainerd, and Pillager.

The charter members of the Nisswa Lions Club knew from day one that it's effectiveness as a service club in the community would depend on two basic elements, membership dedication and the power of the dollar bill.

The Nisswa Lions Club, at 100 plus members, is one of the largest and most effective clubs in Multiple District 5M, which covers Minnesota, Manitoba, and NW Ontario.

The Nisswa Lions Club was chartered in December of 1972 with 53 members. Brainerd Lions Club sponsored the Nisswa Club and hosted a charter night on January 26, 1973.

An approximate annual sum of $100,000 is used to fund individual family needs, school programs, Nisswa Police Department, Nisswa Fire Department, and student scholarships. Lion's worldwide programs of sight conservation, hearing, diabetes, education, and aid to natural disasters are also supported by the Nisswa Lions Club.

This club was started by people who understood the needs of this community and who had long term "vision" to see solutions made possible through a worldwide service organization such as Lions Clubs International. Decades later, we invite those who have the same "Vision" and commitment to join us!
